The Specialty Materials segment manufactures products that provide more than 150 material formulations for glass, glass ceramics and fluoride crystals to meet demand for unique customer needs. Consequently, this segment operates in a wide variety of commercial and industrial markets that include display optics and components, semiconductor optics components, aerospace and defense, astronomy, ophthalmic products, telecommunications components and cover glass that is optimized for portable display devices.

Scope of Role:

  • Uses the principles and theories of science, engineering, and mathematics to provide technical support for manufacturing processes.
  • Works on assignments that are complex in nature where considerable judgment and initiative are required in resolving problems and making recommendations.
  • May determine methods and procedures on new assignments and may provide guidance to other personnel.


Responsibilities:

  • Provide daily technical leadership/support to Mirrors operations
  • Designs shipping/storage boxes and packing material to ensure product safety/quality is maintained
  • Develop daily Run Plans for production tasks and hold start of shift Run Reviews with operators and technicians
  • Ensure all processes as defined and documented are being followed
  • Lead production tasks with P&M s requiring salaried/technical oversight for such things as glass handling, boule grinding & washing, furnace loading, furnace firings, and assemblies
  • Develop new and audit existing Mirrors SOP s to ensure quality objectives are met
  • Calls production stops to operations where they feel a safety or quality issue could happen as a result of equipment issues, operator training deficiency, lack of process detail, etc.
  • Salaried representative for critical manufacturing tasks as defined
  • Changes shifts as needed to support production activities
  • Key member of department 5S activities including working with operators on iDMAIC completion, before & after pictures, completing identified 5S opportunities from weekly 5S audits
  • Writes Maintenance work orders for various equipment and determines when call-ins are required to keep production running
  • Keeps supervision informed on all critical issues as needed
  • Communicates and updates progress & status of production activity and other related metrics as part of pass downs to oncoming shifts and supervision
  • Identifies areas and takes on projects related to department safety, continual improvement and risk reduction
  • Reviews & approves operator time (ATA) and labor sheets
  • Identify gaps & help in solving issues limiting production schedules from being met such as insufficient pre-planning, operator training, improper paperwork, etc.

Required Skills:

  • We require a minimum of an Associate of Science degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or other Engineering field

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
